Due to the ongoing expansion experienced by the company worldwide, we are currently looking to recruit a recently graduated Physicist to help with in-house research and production.

Job description



You will join a very active and successful research and development team that contributes to international conferences and achieves patents. Our research areas comprise: materials science, organic and traditional semiconductors, metals, alloys, solar cells, vacuum physics, corrosion, electronics, programming and product development.

The student will contribute actively to scientific papers and if said student's data is at the appropraite level the aforementioned data may be put forward for publication and the student will achieve a scientific publication.

The academic level of the placement will be similar to the first year of a PhD programme. The placement would suit Applied or Experimental Physics Applicants however anyone with a strong scientific or engineering background who could contribute to a research and development team should apply.


The successful candidate will work on a range of tasks, including:

1. Shadow member of our Queen's Award winning R&D team to acquire suitable skills and experience:
• Review of current research techniques, product manufacturing and sample testing procedures.
• Analysis of Materials. Characterisation of system performance, Interpretation of Analysis data and reporting.
• Work closely with Doctors and Professors on world leading academic research.
2. Discuss a suitable research project and develop a project plan:
• Production of an independent research proposal
• Implementation of the proposal, conduct the research project reporting back to the R&D team on a weekly basis
• Presentation of Results
• Production of Technical Report and Analysis
• Integration of knowledge gained into our commercial activities.
3. Contribute to KP Technology Websites, documentation, submission of papers.

Students who are graduating in 2015 will have a certain level of preference, but this by no means should deter any undergraduate from applying.

Job description

Our analysis techniques are surface sensitive and we receive samples from all around the world to analyze. One leading application is corrosion and the other is organic semiconductors. You will receive training in surface analysis techniques and client reporting. After training you will take on research and development tasks tailored to your capabilities. This includes supervised applied research projects which will contribute to our materials research program and product development. This position requires a candidate who can work systematically and has good documentation and presentation skills. You will contribute to a young team of graduate and PhD level scientists and engineers. Ideally this work should lead to publications and generation of company Intellectual Property Rights.

Job Summary



KP Technology Ltd based in Wick, Caithness, is recruiting for a graduate for a 12 month Electronics Engineer role. The main objective of this project is the implementation and interfacing of micro-logic controllers into our automated measurement systems in order to make client operation of these systems as simple as possible.

Job Description



These tasks require knowledge of sensors communication protocols and control circuitry. Previous knowledge of micro-controller programming or high-level languages would be advantageous.

The graduate will contribute to our electronic engineering team by learning the processes by which we design, test and build electronic circuits. The graduate will research and develop new product solutions independently and fully test, and document/characterise the resulting equipment. This position is well suited to those who have hands-on experience of building electronic circuits.

The graduate will review current PCB design, manufacture and testing procedures in order to optimise processes and will use PCB Layout editors to develop their own supervised projects, which will include dc and ac signal analysis, sensor interfacing, signal injection and robotics.

The graduate will also be required to contribute to equipment design using in-house design software and to help maintain our websites and assist in the development of client video training.

Note: KP Technology offers all new staff a 3 month trial period. Candidates who clearly demonstrated their suitability over this period will be offered a further 9 month extension. After the initial year successful accomplishment of is likely to be rewarded with a full-time offer of employment.

Job Description



KP Technology, based in Wick, Caithness, winner of Queen’s Awards for International Trade (2013) and Innovation (2008) manufacture state-of-the-art scientific research equipment. We are looking for a recent graduate to take on a sales and marketing position. The successful candidate will enhance the existing sales team and establish a dedicated marketing role, which will include international travel.

Project Description



In partnership with Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), KP Technology has undertaken a strategic review highlighting the world-wide sales opportunities for its products, which are currently experiencing strong demand. The principle aim of the Sales and Marketing project is to assist in achieving the planned sales growth targets and it is very likely to continue beyond the initial 12 month placement .

After training the graduate will become the entry point of the sales process, working to maintain consistent client contact and service, with input from the existing sales staff as required. The dedicated marketing position will enhance the existing sales team and will enable a smooth enquiry, quotation and sales process and improve international engagement and marketing activities. Duties will also include the generation of marketing materials such as brochures and videos, review and development of websites, organisation of exhibition attendance and webinars. The project will include analysis of KP Technology’s existing sales and marketing activities, identifying new markets and competitors, and performance of market research on new products. The graduate will make an important contribution to the existing young team of highly motivated graduate and PhD level scientists, engineers and sales staff.

The placement is ideally suited for a “Sales and Marketing” or “Business Management” Graduate/Post Graduate. A recent Science or Engineering Graduate with experience of sales and marketing or with a strong desire to branch into sales and marketing will also be considered.
